Sunglasses are a summertime staple for function and fashion so I'm rounding up a few trendy styles that are easy to rock and will punch up your look a lil bit this summer. The classic shapes are always good to have in your collection of course but a fun pair of sunnies can really make an easy breezy summer outfit pop. I've lost, sat on and/or smashed up one too many pairs of expensive sunglasses in my time so I'm a believer in affordable sunglasses. You can invest in quantity and have a wide array of styles to choose from and for some reason, when I spend under $50 on sunglasses, I keep them in tip top shape for years to come.
I. Love. Cat-Eye. Sunglasses. They're retro chic and make anyone with any kind of personal style look like an absolute vixen. Cat-eyes sunglasses are a little out there for those with more conservative style but they scream confidence to me so it's not about them suiting your style per se... it's about looking like a pinup no matter what you're wearing!
Round sunglasses are wacky, weird and wonderful. I'm not sure the shape itself perfectly suits anyone's face but it doesn't really matter because they make a bold statement and give an edge to your style that not everyone has the courage to pull off. If you're rocking them, you are already pulling them off so don't fuss about too much with what looks to wear 'em with. Just do it!
Brow bar sunglasses are a statement take on the traditional browline sunnies made iconic in the 60s. A little metal framing the browline is a great way to highlight your features and make your sunnies stand out. The golden touch of these shades also pops a tanned complexion beautifully... not that my pasty Irish self would know anything about that personally.
Aviators are a tried and true style that go in and out of fashion but are definitely considered a classic dram. Super aviators, as I like to call them, are currently very on trend and another fun way to add some swag to summer outfits. Super aviators are an amped up take on the classic frame, reminiscent of what a porn director in the 70s may have sported. Now, I don't personally know what porn directors in the 70s wore but take that as more of a vibe than a specific reference. Think retro Terry Richardson meets Almost Famous meets very hairy man with lots of thick gold jewelry and you're probably on the mark.
Black and tortoise shell are great go-to's when it comes to sunglasses but there's another basic frame color that goes with everything and carries a little more oomph: white! White frames are red hot this summer so grab a fun pair with a shape that tickles your fancy while you can. They brighten up a summer look without looking too over the top. I actually have multiple white cat-eye shades right now because I'm so gung-ho on this look!
Throw some shade the right way this summer by rocking any of these rad sunnie styles!
